國內推動金融整併的聲浪再起，財政部長張盛和明確表示，公公併（公股金融機構併公股金融機構）目前沒有急迫性，但不會排除公併民（公股金融機構併民營金融機構），但如果是民併公（民營金融機構併公股金融機構），大概就沒有可能了。

有人說，台灣的銀行規模太小，張盛和表示，那是指26家民間銀行，不是8家公股銀行；對於如果說金融整併，是民營銀行要吃掉公股銀行，張盛和直言，「吃不下啦！」因公股銀行相對都夠大，8家公股銀行除了三商銀，都已經整併過了；至於會不會公公併？他也表示，公併公沒有互補嘛！

對於如果不會公公併，是否會考慮公併民？張盛和指出，如果講的是民營銀行要把公股銀行吃掉，「大概就沒有可能」；至於如果是公吃民呢？張盛和則說，不會排除這種可能，但他也強調，金融產業政策並不是財政部主管的。
