國防部上午表示，漢光29號電腦兵推本月15日展開，演習想定依2017年中共軍力發展，對台灣實施猝然突擊及全面進犯，實施連續5天4夜電腦兵棋推演，藉由我方成軍的新式武器，驗證32項反制戰術。國防部作計室助理次長曾復興說，演習以2017年中共解放軍戰鬥序列兵力實施反制推演，他不否認會對共軍的遼寧號航空母艦列為推演反制的對象。

漢光29號演習區分實兵演練及電腦輔助指揮所演習。實兵演練月前已執行完畢，電腦兵推15日至19日實施，檢測國軍聯戰指揮機制。這項兵棋推演，「統裁部」由國防部長擔任統裁官，軍政、軍備副部長擔任副統裁官。「攻擊軍」則由國防大學擔任，納編陸、海、空軍教準部編成。「防衛軍」由國防部參謀總長任演習指揮官，戰略執行單位以上指揮所參演人員，結合聯戰指揮機制運作，實施狀況處置演練。

作戰及計畫參謀次長室陸軍助理次長曾復興表示，因應敵軍事現代化，國軍以精粹案組織變革、新式武器成軍和未來建軍發展方向，規劃情蒐整合、後備動員等32項驗證重點。
