（法新社東京9日電）日本長崎原爆滿68週年，今天有數萬人聚集在一起，追悼當年喪命的7萬多名死者。

1945年8月9日上午11時2分，美軍在長崎市投下代號為「胖子」（Fat Man）的原子彈。

今天的典禮選在轟炸地點附近舉辦，年邁的倖存者、家屬、政府官員及外國使節都出席，上午11時2分一同默哀。

有人認為美軍先後在廣島及長崎投下原子彈，成功迫使日本投降，讓第二次世界大戰得以提早結束，並避免之後入侵日本國土更多人死傷的情況。對於這個論點，歷史學家看法不一。

原爆造成數萬人立即死亡，之後還有更多人死於輻射病及癌症，許多倖存者都反對軍事及民用核能。（譯者：中央社林亭儀）
