澳洲野火逼近雪梨 1死百屋毀

澳洲東部的新南威爾斯省(New South Wales)野火持續肆虐，在迫使數千居民撤離之後，已造成澳洲最大城─雪梨附近至少100棟房屋毀損，還有1人喪命。澳洲當局今天(18日)警告，隨著火勢失控，還會有更多房子在大火中付之一炬。

新南威爾斯鄉間消防局(Rural Fire Service，RFS)表示，在不合乎季節的高溫及強風助長下，新南威爾斯省還有100處火場，其中有超過30處尚未獲得控制。

RFS表示，一名住在雪梨北部沿海社區的63歲老翁，17日在捍衛家園免於被大火吞噬時，不幸死於心臟病發。此外，還有數以千計的居民，在雪梨郊區的避難中心過夜。

RFS在最新的更新資訊中說，目前最大的威脅來自懷昂(Wyong)失控的火勢，當地位於雪梨北方75公里，據信已有部份房屋被燒毀。

此外，17日有人打電話到雪梨的叩應電台說，在雪梨的一些沙灘上，飄落著大火的灰燼和燒焦的樹葉，其中包括著名的邦迪海灘(Bondi Beach)。
